If you book the above times, we may be unable to serve you if you do not come on time, so please allow plenty of time when visiting us.
Generally we tend to be less busy during the day on weekdays. Booking conditions can also differ between our 3 locations, so if your desired time slot is full when trying to book online, we recommend you check out our other locations.
We require everyone to save their credit card details when booking online. Please note your card details are stored securely by PCI security standards.
Why you need to save credit card details
Because it's so easy to book our appointments online, our salons are experiencing a high number of no shows and last minute cancellations. Such problematic customers cause interference with our staffs' schedules and make it harder for others to book. To prevent this, all our customers are required to enter their card details when booking, so that we have a means of charging cancellation fees for such customers. Please note we will never charge your card without your consent, and you'll be paying at the salon. To minimize disruption to our salon and to make sure everyone can book their desired times, we will continue to make it a necessity to save card details. We deeply apologies for the inconvenience, and we thank you for your understanding.
Sometimes when we receive a large amount of booking requests online, or when customers make their next booking at the salon, we may become overbooked and need to ask our customers to move their booking time. When we have booking cancellations, we may also need to move around customers a little. If you receive such message from us, it would be highly appreciated if you could check your schedule for us. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
There is a comment section when you book online. When booking for more than 1 person, please only make one booking, and comment how many people are coming, their requested services and stylist preferences.
A stylist selection fee is charged for Cut bookings only (excluding Fringe Cut). The fee depends on each salon and stylist, so please check the salon's website.

Cut, Cut (Short Style) and Kid's Cut all include shampoo & blow dry. Fringe Cut does not include shampoo & blow dry, so please add it if you wish when booking.
Yes, we can. Please let your stylist know that you do not require shampoo & blow dry. Please note the price will be the same with or without shampoo & blow dry.
We determine haircut price by hair length- regular Cut is $75 and Short Style Cut is $65.
Short Style hair refers to any hairstyle where:
1. Length of hair is 10cm or less, and
2. Hair does not cover the ears.

Kid's cut is for 3 to 13 year olds. We cannot perform Cuts for children under 3 years.
We do not offer Scalp Care on its own as it is an add-on service. If you would like to book Scalp Care, please book it together with Shampoo & Blow dry or with one of our Treatments. We are also unable to accept Fringe Cut and Scalp Care only, as Fringe Cut does not include Shampoo & Blow dry.
We can do simple curls with an iron or styling with hair wax. An additional fee ($10-$15) may apply depending on your hair type or desired hairstyle. Currently we do not offer complicated hair styling such as updo styling.
As colouring and perming/straightening on the same day is too damaging for your hair, we will generally decline such bookings. We recommend making 2 appointments about 2 weeks apart from each other. We also are unable to perm/straighten bleached hair, so if you plan on bleaching your hair we recommend you have your hair perm/straightened beforehand. If you want to colour your hair in one tone, please choose Single Colour.
Retouching is when we only colour your roots (1 inch or 2.8cm) that have grown in. If you want to retouch colour for any other area, please book Single Colour.
Generally we are unable to perm/straighten bleached hair as it has been damaged.
We use products from a Japanese brand called DEMI COSMETICS
The products we use do not specify regarding use during pregnancy. However, we recommend you discuss with your doctor if you are unsure. Please also be aware the salon will smell of chemicals from hair products, and your skin may be more sensitive than usual. If you need to colour your hair during pregnancy, we can make sure colouring products do not touch your scalp.
We recommend you do not shampoo your hair for at least 24 hours. Please note your hair may be sensitive after straightening, so make sure to wash and dry your hair gently for a while.
Our Treatments work to repair damaged hair, but we also recommend applying Treatment to healthy hair to prevent damage. We recommend different Treatment options depending on the condition of your hair as well as which services you have booked, so please ask your stylist on the day.

We are unable to accept booking changes within 40 hours, so please come to the salon at your booking time. We appreciate your understanding.

Generally, cancellations and booking changes within 40 hours of your booking time will result in a cancellation fee equal to 50% of your booking.

Yes, bathrooms are available at all 3 of our locations.
We are very sorry, but we do not have a fridge available for customers.
Unfortunately, there are steps for entry into SHINKA Clarence and SHINKA Castlereagh, making it difficult for customers on a wheelchair to enter by themselves. If someone can accompany you, please let us know beforehand so our staff are also ready to help you with entry. SHINKA Galeries and SHINKA Dymocks has an elevator, so customers on a wheelchair are able to visit by themselves. We will also make sure to have a seat reserved for easy access, so please let us know when making a booking.
Unfortunately we do not offer free wi-fi.
For hygienic reasons, please refrain from bringing food into the salon.
